Features
Serial ATA-300
SATA, or Serial ATA
is the current popular choice of hard drive interface
for desktop systems. SATA-300 is the current standard,
and is capable of transferring 300 Megabytes per second.
While SCSI drives are capable of faster transfer speeds,
the drives, bus controller, and cables are much more
expensive, relegating their use to servers and
applications where transfer speed is an absolute must.
Note that if you are shopping for an upgrade to a system
that is a couple of years old, it may not support
SATA-300, and not operate at it's full potential. If it
is any older than that, it may not support the SATA
standard at all, and you should check your system's
specifications for details.
